A Healthy Alternative to Marshmallow Krispy Treats

Crispy Almond Butter Treats

You can substitute peanut butter, but the almond butter gives it the taste of those (sugary, not so good for you) treats that you remember.

1 box crispy brown rice  cereal
1 3/4 cups brown rice syrup
Fine sea salt
3/4 cup almond butter (unsweetened and unsalted)

Heat the syrup with a pinch of salt over low heat. When the syrup liquefies, add the almond butter and stir until well combined. Pour over the rice cereal. Mix well with a wooden spoon.

Turn the mixture into a 9×13 baking dish. Wet your spoon lightly and press the mixture evenly into the pan. Let cool for an hour (if you can keep from eating them right away) before cutting into squares or bars.

Once you try these, you’ll never go back.
